College of engineering
"I was born in Tennessee, but lived in over 10 cities before calling Raleigh home when I was admitted to NC State in 2006. I graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering. I met Sophia Woo, my business partner, in high school at the NC School of Science and Math in Durham. Ten years after we met, Pho Nomenal Dumpling Truck was established and hit the roads of Raleigh in the Spring of 2014. The concept started with a pun-ny name and two girls with entrepreneurial spirits itching to connect with the world starting with their local community, Raleigh. A year after we hit the road, Food Network reached out and asked us to apply for the Great Food Truck Race. Being a “jump now and a net will appear” kind of person, I convinced Sophia to apply with another close friend from NCSSM, Becca Plumlee. May of 2015, Sophia, Becca and I headed out west to Santa Monica and started our eventful journey on Route 66. After 6 weeks of being the underdog, we fought our way to the top and won the 6th season of Food Network’s "The Great Food Truck Race” and the title of the Best Food Truck in the Country. In 2017, MOFU Shoppe, our newest project will open in Downtown Raleigh."
